Spectator as Bowler
Why not have a spectator start each game by trying to bowl one of the captains
out with 1 ball? If the person does, they get a nice coupon or something, and
if not they get an autographed bat by the captain...it seems to bring a lot of
support from the spectators to see normal people trying for something great.
It has been done a few times in basketball (free throw shot or half court shot),
or in football when they try and score a penalty.
Ideas from Jeremy
1. Cricket names for various bars/food & beer stations
Rather than just having the beer machine and barman, each bar could be named
and signposted with cricket trivia names to make meeting your friends easier,
with fun names like 'Silly Mid Off'. They could even be themed towards a specific
supporter nationality ie 'The Master Blaster Bar', 'The Doosra', 'The Beefy Cut'.
2. Sixes Supporters' Awards
Special awards to be given on ad hoc basis (perhaps payable in beer) to be given
to supporters and groups who best reflect the 'Spirit of the Sixes' - Best Costume,
Greatest Enthusiasm, Supporter We'd Most Want on our Side etc
Idea from Hubert
Nominate a Batsman or Bowler as a 'Joker'
The 'Joker' batsman can come in at any time to replace the striker for 3 deliveries
only once during a match, no later than the 4th ball of any over (6th ball for
the final) the batting team is docked 5 runs if the batting joker is dismissed
during that time. The replaced batsman is then reinstated. The joker could have
been dismissed or retired earlier in the innings. Could have a bowling joker
as well.
Idea from Stephen
Hit the Target
You could have a number of targets around the ground, say, 30 metres high. The
target could be a net or hoarding, and if the batsman hits the target then he
wins a monetary prize or one of the sponsors makes a donation to charity – personally,
my suggestion would be a donation to charity.
Nice Catch!
The crowd need to have the opportunity to win something – for example, if someone
in the crowd catches the ball on the full, then they win a team shirt of their
choice, for instance. Having attended the sixes in recent years, not many people
actually take catches and so it should be rewarded. If they take it one handed,
they win a shirt and a cap, for instance.
Idea from Paul
Hey DJ!
Get ticket holders to vote on music that can be played between overs, breaks
etc. That way those attending can have a say on what music is played throughout
the cricket festival.

HK
Women Crowned Asian Champions
Hong Kong Women's Cricket Team stormed unbeaten through the ACC T20 Women's Championships
to lift their first international trophy. The team was formed in 2006 and successfully
made their debut with two wins over the new China Womens' team. This was followed by
a baptism of fire on their first overseas tour to Lahore, Pakistan. But the team
has grown from strength to strength and was jubilant following their victory
which earns Hong Kong a berth in the Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010. For the

Mohammad Zubair is the only Hong Kong player ever to take a hat-trick at the
